Accomplished:

  • The district distributed a Back-to-School Planning Parent Survey and used results for plan development.
  • Attendance/Enrollment Questionnaire along with a brief summary referencing the “Fly Like an Eagle” plan on the district website sent to all families on July 20, 2020 to determine attendance of students on-site, those who will be remote, as well as the use of district transportation.

Ongoing:

  • Regular communication to families and staff will occur using the following:
    • Website Presence for “Fly Like an Eagle” Re-entry Plan
    • Infinite Campus and Parent Square messaging systems
    • Superintendent’s “Open Door” Weekly e-Newsletter
    • District’s Facebook
    • Student/Family Handbooks
    • Principal Communications
    • Staff Virtual Meetings, The Connection newsletter, and emails throughout the summer,
  • Online registration will continue. The on-site registration day of August 5, 2020 is cancelled, and those needing face-to-face registration will need to make appointments with their respective school offices.  
  • Staff will be provided additional health & safety training upon return to school in fall. 
  • Ongoing meetings with Door County Public Health, Door County Medical Center, local school district leaders, and state & federal agencies to obtain up-to-date information.

The district continues to work with Door County Medical Center, Door County Health and Human Services Department, and the school nursing team to establish appropriate protocols and procedures for COVID-19, including:
  • Regular communication about checking for symptoms at home before coming to school will go out to parents and staff.
  • A protocol to follow if a student, staff member, or guest shows any symptoms of COVID-19 will be developed and communicated to all.
  • The district will develop a protocol for a child who is identified as having an on-site health concern under the guidance of the school nurse (assessment, triage, designated isolation room in each building).
  • Parents will be given information about who to contact if someone in their family is diagnosed with COVID-19, and the role of Door County Public Health working with their medical provider to assist with contact tracing, etc. 
  • The decision to close school, based on COVID-19 spread, will be collaboratively determined by Door County Health and Human Services Department and  the district.
