Accountability Report Cards

Southern Door County School District Exceeds Expectations
on Accountability Report Cards

Each Fall, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) issues Accountability Report Cards for schools and districts in the state.  The Southern Door County School District is pleased to report that it received a rating of ‘Exceeds Expectations’ on the 2018-2019 report card.  In addition to a District overall rating, each building received an accountability rating.

  • Southern Door High School: Exceeds Expectations
  • Southern Door Middle School: Meets Expectations
  • Southern Door Elementary School: Exceeds Expectations

The current School Report Card is primarily based on last year’s performance, the 2018-2019 school year.  At the foundation of the report cards are four priority areas.  Schools and districts receive a score for each priority area:

  • Student Achievement proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics on the annual state assessments;
  • School Growth measured by year-to-year progress in ELA and math achievement;
  • Closing Gaps in performance between specific student groups (comparing English learners, low-income students, students with disabilities, and members of a racial or an ethnic group with their peers); and
  • On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness showing reliable predictors of how many students are on-track to graduate from high school and student readiness for post-high school success .

Schools and districts are also evaluated on their level of student engagement – chronic absenteeism rates and dropout rates – when applicable.

While the report cards are only one source of information about our district, they are used to help the District identify areas of strength that we can build upon and opportunities for growth to help improve learning outcomes for all children.  As a District, we remain committed to meeting our mission of ensuring that all students learn.

In addition to academic achievement for all students, the District is committed to the social, emotional, and physical safety of students and staff.  Making sure our students feel safe and connected to school significantly impacts their ability to learn and grow and continue to be #SDEagleStrong!
