LATEST UPDATE ON SCHOOL CLOSURE

Dear Southern Door School District Families and Staff:

Today, Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health provided continued guidance which requires us to  keep our school facilities closed for the rest of the school year.  This means that we will continue our  Remote Learning  as the means for educating your child through the end of the school year. Thus, all concerts, co-curriculars, and community activities scheduled during the rest of our school year are either cancelled, or postponed pending further notice. Some of those events, which are annual recognitions of student accomplishments, may take place virtually or, like graduation, be postponed to a time when we can all safely gather together.

Since we anticipated this direction from the governor, we have already been planning for how our last six weeks of school would take place. Our administrative team, staff, and the Board of Education will continue to work closely to ensure that the best possible learning opportunities continue to be offered, and that we find ways to honor the special moments for our students.

It is also essential that you have current information from the school. Please continue to access the Remote Learning website page, or contact any of our staff to assist you with your needs. Information is provided through district communication processes such as the Open Door e-newsletter, Parent Square, and Infinite Campus messaging.

The COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving and changing. We understand that it brings many unknowns and challenges, and many are working hard to help address the needs.  Everyone’s priority – at the local, state, and national level is the same as ours – is our individual and collective health and safety, and from the school's perspective, our children’s education. A special thank you to all the healthcare workers, emergency personnel, and those who ensure that our basic needs are being met. There will likely be many lessons that we take from this experience, the least of which will be what an amazing community we have here in Southern Door, and also our appreciation for each other!

We deeply miss the life of school as we knew it before March. We long for the day when we can have every student and staff member back in our facilities, and experience their smiling faces, their energy, and the learning experiences we share together!

Please know that we are here, as a school district, to support you as we all continue to navigate these uncharted waters with COVID-19, and the challenges it brings to you, your family, and our community.  Thank you for your continued partnership with us to educate your children.  In Southern Door we take care of each other, and that is why we are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!  Stay safe and keep healthy!
