VITAL INFORMATION
REGARDING SCHOOL SCHEDULES
& STUDENT MEALS

Dear Families and Staff:

The safety of staff and students is the District's highest priority.  Per Governor Evers' Executive Order, Southern Door will hold school as planned on Monday, March 16th, and Tuesday, March 17th. Beginning Wednesday, March 18th, there will be no on-site instruction at Southern Door Schools. Staff will report on March 18th for professional development to continue planning. In addition, all facilities (indoor & outdoor) will be closed (including Talon Fitness), and all events, programs, activities and practices are canceled.

School officials have been working throughout the weekend to put plans in place for alternative instructional plans for remote learning.   Please keep in mind that the elementary school does not have the same needs in terms of minutes of instruction, credit bearing courses, and graduation requirements that are in place at the secondary level.  As a result, the processes for remote learning opportunities for our elementary students will look different during this school closure.

Parents should monitor their email and make sure all contact information is up-to-date in Infinite Campus. During this initial phase of closure, if you need assistance, staff will be answering phones in the school and district offices until 3 pm each day, Monday through Friday, starting Monday, March 23, 2020.  Information and assistance are also available on the Southern Door website's Remote Learning tab.

Thanks to the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, we are able to provide FREE bagged breakfasts and lunches for ALL children in the Southern Door School District, age 18 and younger (including preschoolers).  In order to adequately prepare for the district's needs, please click on this link:   Survey - Breakfast & Lunch Needs and answer the short survey.  It is vital that you complete this survey by Tuesday, March 17th if you would like to participate in this program.  If you have any questions, please call the district office at 920.825.7311. Even though there are many unanswered questions at this time, we will do everything that is possible to try to mitigate the factors that are within our control, and keep everyone informed.

Our children need our guidance to put this surreal situation in perspective, especially when the life they are used to in school, and their participation in so many special activities, have now been significantly curtailed. Perhaps this is a time, when we all step back, and help each other appreciate the important things in life, like our health, our family, and our friends!

May we all use our Eagle strength as a school and community to bring hope to those in our care and to those around us so we remain Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong during these challenging times.

Patricia Vickman, Superintendent
