We are excited to announce the hiring of Mike Collins as our new high school head cross country coach. Mr. Collins has a strong background as a runner and as a cross country and track coach. He ran both cross country and track at the University of Notre Dame, and qualified for the 1968 Olympic Trials in two track running events and for the 1972 Olympic Trials in the marathon.
Mr. Collins recently spent six years as head cross country coach and four years as head track coach at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also coached an age-group running program for children ages 8 to 13. Coach Collins recently retired as a science teacher from Rancho High and returned to the Midwest. He resides in Sturgeon Bay.
Coach Collins is having an important informational meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at the Southern Door High School track. All high school students and parents interested in cross country should attend.
