NEW ASSESSMENT TO PERSONALIZE HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUCTION

We are excited to share the news that our school district is implementing a new best practice assessment program for students in grades 9-11 called PreACT.  Each year the State of Wisconsin requires that all juniors take the ACT test to gain insights into their college and career readiness.  Below you will find information about PreACT, including how we will be using it.  PreACT will support full implementation of our district adopted curriculum resources in English Language Arts, Math, and Science.

What is PreACT?  PreACT is a paper-based, multiple-choice test in the same four subjects that appear on the ACT—English, Math, Reading, and Science.  The PreACT uses the same format, types of questions, and 1-36 score scale as the ACT.  This helps students get comfortable with the test and understand how they are doing in core subjects.  It also empowers students, parents, and educators with valuable insights to personalize instruction for each student.

What Does PreACT Provide?  PreACT gives students an estimated ACT test score and can be used as an indicator of college and career readiness.  Reports include information to help teachers and school counselors target interventions, inform classroom instruction, and guide students in course selection.

When Will My Child Take the PreACT?  Students in grade 9-11 will complete this assessment in October so that teachers can use the student learning information to adjust instruction for your child throughout the school year.

If you have any questions about this assessment, please contact Mr. Bousley, Southern Door High School Principal.
